What's your drive?

A very interesting piece of information crossed my path the other day:

Did you know that John Grisham wrote his first novel between the hours of 2 and 6 in the morning....

This got me thinking and directed my attention to the many athletes who are representing the nations of the world currently at the Olympics in Beijing. Many of them train for their event outside a normal job. Some of them are still at school and study alongside their chosen event. For many the Olympics is the pinnacle of their career which is why it causes so much joy alongside so much sorrow.

These people mentioned are among some very highly motivated people, and seeing them has questioned where do I get my drive from? The easy and perhaps correct answer is God, but then the challenge is why don't I spend every hour that I am not working developing my God life, like an athlete might their physical condition....

There's lots of things that drive me, some positive, some negative. But it is my desire that my motivation for my waking and sleeping hours would be God... The motivation that Jesus took with Him as He lived and breathed on this earth.

If only we were driven by the commandments and will of God more than anything else I reckon that Christians and the church would be a formidable, unstoppable steam roller of hope, grace and truth!

......and that sounds like what we're called to be?!!
