Turn your eyes

In 1918, a hymn writer named Helen Lemmel wrote the beautiful and challenging hymn, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus." She had been with a missionary friend who had shared with her a gospel tract. Inside the tract was the text:

"So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness."

This profound text caused a song to rise up in her spirit and the hymn was written. It has been a challenge to me over this last week and I pray that the words of a 45 year old written in 1918 and published in 1922 might speak into your life now. What a great call to the church : TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s a light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
Over us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conquerors we are!

Refrain

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Refrain

I like the Hymn "Love Lifted Me"

Great lyrics, and powerful thoughts about God's love.
