What is Church??

That's the title of the lesson that I have been helping teach to a number of year 7 classes this week.
A great question that calls into question some of the things that church might have become, but also the really great things about modern day church!

Isn't it interesting that some things stick and other don't!
Music is constantly changing! Bands in the 60's, 70's might not be the same as todays and might not be our cup of tea, so we just move on. We choose to listen to our style but don't dwell on the styles we don't like!

But church is different!

There are so many churches that are different from the traditional view of church, but for some reason the idea of church has stuck as a boring old place. People still dwell on the image of choir and organ for example and do not move on from that. For some churches that might be true, but for many it simply isn't!

The question that rises is: How can we break the stereotype of church?

The lessons have been informative and interesting, and the young people have engaged amazingly. It is a real privilege to go into a school in this day and age and to speak about church so openly. The prayer is that some of those links will grow to bring fruit way into the future!
