I'd like to be more like Jesus. In fact, there are areas of my life that I despise and would love to be more Godly in. Paul writes to the church in Ephesus 'Be imitators of God'. We are called to be Godly, to strive to be pure; to live as Christ lived on this earth. Remember the WWJD wristbands; a reminder to think what would Jesus do in the situations that we face.
I want to be more like Christ, I want to imitate His character and have the same attitude
BUT
To get there requires a journey, a long, hard, tough journey. It is not something that just happens overnight at the click of a switch, but rather over time by the forging of new habits, the denial of self, and the motivation to love God and others.
I want to get to the destination, but not always sure whether I want to deal with what the journey brings. I want to be Godly, but not really sure If I want to deny self. I want to be like Jesus, but not really sure if I want to give up some things.
If I want to go to Yorkshire I have to get in the car and drive, the M25, A1 and M62 might be a traffic nightmare, but unless I get in, turn on the ignition, put my foot on the accelerator I am not going to get to get to my destination.
We will never be perfect like Christ, but unless we start the journey we will not become more Godly, unless we face the challenges we will not grow through them, and unless we put one foot in front of the other we will not get anywhere.
Get moving, stop thinking about what might happen, start doing what will happen and see how God might mould us through the experience!
