Proverbs 4

Get wisdom, get understanding, do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you, love her and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme, therefore, get wisdom. Esteem her and she will exalt you, embrace her and she will honour you Verse 5-8

I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold onto instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life. Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the ways of evil men. Avoid it, do not travel on it, turn from it and go on your way Verse 11 - 15

Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. Consider the paths for your feet. Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil Verse 25-27

I don't know why and I cannot articulate what, but as I read these words this morning from Proverbs chapter 4, I felt the Spirit of God speak to me.
How important is wisdom??!! We live in a real world that throws decisions, temptations, and different directions at us, and we are entrusted to make wise choices. From stories into the Bibles to Christian men and women today I can say that no-one always makes the right choice all of the time. But, the wise under God do a pretty good job at it!! God calls us to wisdom, not for ourselves, but for Him and for others.

If I were a leader of a big team I would want the best, most apt, cleverest, Godly people on my team. God's mission and heart is to reach a lost world with a gospel of hope, love, and everlasting life. The wisdom of Proverbs 4 tells us to get wisdom, and understanding, to walk on the path that leads to righteousness and not to swerve off that path into evil ways. I believe God uses those who are submitted to him to impact others, both Christians and the world. Will we strive for wisdom, not to boost our ego but in a response to an Almighty God and to help outwork the mission of God in this broken world?!
