As 8 people gathered to seek and pray, despite the dismal weather I felt uplifted.
Our reflections focused on Galatians 2:20;
For I have been crucified with Christ. I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the son of God who loves me and gave himself for me.
This verse instantly reminds me of rather comical memory verses at Eagle Bay Camp in Canada last year through the medium of a character called 'memory mike'. As I studied and looked deeper, however, I was amazed by how much this one verse holds.
The 'I' of me is crucified with Christ, the bit of self that says ME, ME, ME is dead through Christ. That pride no longer lives, but Jesus Christ, the son of God lives in me. That requires a life of faith, not in myself, but in Christ because he loves and gave himself for me.
As a reflection it was suggested to swap the word 'I' in that verse with your name...try it.
My mind took a detour to the word actionand I was challenged to:
1. Accept the truth and promise of God
2. Strive to live a life of faith in God
3. As Christ did for us, seek to love and give up myself for others.
4. Go and do
My thoughts and reflections recently have been focused on the sovereignty of God and the power of His word. As I stood praying for our church it struck me that we are called to action, to do things, but our action has to be based in and through Gods word, not our own desires.
GODS WORD + OUR ACTION = LASTING EFFECT
