HOLY

I have probably already used this one word title for a blog already.....but have to keep with the one word tradition!!

In our small group last night we discussed the 1st chapter of 1 Peter. We were looking at holiness, what it means and how can it be attained!

In 1 Peter 1 vs. 15 we read BE HOLY, BECAUSE I AM HOLY.
Peter quotes from Leviticus 11 vs 44-45. The reality is, in hinesight, that with all the facets of the Levitical law is that it was impossible for the Israelites to keep. They fell short of the law. It was practically impossible to be holy with everything that THEY had to achieve.

However, through the blood of Jesus we can be HOLY, and thats the difference: The Israelites had to keep to the law, with obedience to law, came obedience to God. It was bout what THEY did.

Through Jesus' death and resurrection we can attain holiness, we are made pure by the blodd of Christ, the reality is that we all fall short. But we are made holy, not by what we achieve, but, by what Christ has done for us.

Let us never lose sight of that fundamental truth, that it is not about what we do, but its about what Christ has done!!!
