Isn’t it true that we always remember negative comments far more than positives. There’s an old school of thought that one negative comment is equivalent to 7 positive comments.
I know that when I hear something positive, or am complimented upon something I feel good for a short time, but, when someone says something negative or something happens that isn’t great, then I tend to dwell on it, to let my thoughts linger on it, to get consumed by it.
This has tremendous consequences for how we live out our lives. If I feel disheartened when people comment negatively, are there circumstances when my words, whether intended or not, could be construed as negative?
1 Thessalonians 5 vs 11,
Therefore encourage one another and build up one another.
I don’t know about you, but so often I encourage people or build them up, when they are feeling down. When they really need encouragement, but in fact as Christians, we should be an encouraging people. We should be building each other up in Christ, in truth.
Someone once said to me: Surround yourselves with positive people. Why??? Quite simple, because the people who you surround yourselves with, have an impact on you! In other words if you hang around with positive people, you will be, more than likely, a positive person!
Negative comments can be detremential, they can belittle, they can consume, they can take over. We need to surround ourselves with positive people, we need to build each other up and encourage, not just when people are down, but all the time!
Think and be positive!

Jon-this is so true and very much something that I battle with especially recently! It is such a thing of human nature that we cast aside all the great things people say about us and focus on the negative things! This is one example of where Satan can take a foothold. Therefore we need to be putting on the armour of God EVERYDAY so that we can take our stand against the devil's schemes and build eachother up in the truth!
Be changed within a new way of thinking.(positivity!)Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you;you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.
Romans 12:2
I did a talk about this to the 5-11s group last Sunday in church. I spoke about the idea of cycle.
When we upset Mummy, she cries, which upsets Daddy, so he goes to work in a bad mood and snaps at one of his colleagues, who feels bad and so doesn't meet his mates for a drink after work, etc etc.
But if we do nice things for Mummy, she is in a good mood, which puts Daddy in a good mood, so he encourages his colleagues, and so forth.
So we act positively to other people not simply for their sake, but for the sake of the whole world! I find that idea exciting.
