Eye-witness

I think this blog title just about fits into my effort to keep all titles down to one word!!

We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power of the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1 vs 16 (NIV)

Do you ever have those moments when you read a passage of scripture and one word practically jumps from the page and hits you in the head? I just had one!

Peter was an eye-witness to Jesus. It sounds so obvious, I guess that's because it is! Peter was an eye-witness to Jesus!

He walked with him, and talked with him, and this is sounding more and more like an old hymn, but the point is that Peter knew Jesus as a friend, as a mentor, as a master, as a saviour and the list goes on. He actually knew him in the flesh.

Its quite an amazing thought really, that Jesus walked the earth. A simple thought, but an amazing one!

The great thing is that we can still be eyewitnesses, maybe not of Christ's physical being, but of his power and might in a world of depravity, hatred, violence, crime. Lets be spiritual eyewitnesses and make a difference as Christ did when He walked the earth, and as the apostles did when they spoke of their Lord that they knew so intimately.
