35,500 was the approximate attendance to last night's FA cup quarter final reply between Chelsea and Tottenham. That is a lot of people. A lot of people with one passion under one roof, motivated by their heroes on their team. The reality is that every week across this country and the world people gather to see a game of live football. As i heard that number I thought to myself - Why is the church in this country declining?
With the above statistic in mind, we can't argue that the British are not a passionate people, so what's the difference between football and Christianity that makes people follow one and not the other. The problem is us, not Christ! The gospel is good news, it will always be good news.
Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever Hebrews 13 vs 8
The gospel is attractive, the methods we use to spread it are not! The good news is exactly that, but the way we live it out is not good! The truth will always be truth, but people don’t see truth in us!
Maybe these are harsh and even incorrect statements, but the reality is that something is radically wrong when we do not see people coming into our churches and making life decisions for Christ.
