Zechariah and Elizabeth

This morning I spent some time reflecting on Zechariah and Elizabeth and their part in the Christmas story...

The idea of a child to them was a distant dream, a longing that hadn't come to fruition. They had dreamt about it for years, but now it was impossible...

Luke 1:13"The angel said to him, Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John"
God had made the humanly impossible, possible...

First thought:

Whatever you come across today:
Do you look at the impossible and leave it at that?
Do you believe that your God can make the impossible, possible?

Luke 1:24"After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion"

For Zechariah and Elizabeth the possible became possible
However, Elizabeth went into seclusion much earlier than was customary...
Was she scared of this new child? Was she worried what others might think or say? Was she questioning how she could care for this child because she was getting older each day?

I don't know if this was their mindset, but:

Sometimes when God makes the impossible, possible. We dwell on the new set of seemingly impossible circumstances that the miracle creates, instead of the supernatural intervention of God in the first place.

If you relate to this ask God to:

"Prepare me for what your are preparing for me"

Believe in the God of the impossible for the before the miracle, for the the miracle and after the miracle.
