Distraction

I'm sure that you can sympathise with the setting. You want to make time to spend with God, so you sit down. But, then you remember you need to send an email. Then you feel like a cup of tea, on the way back to the study your attention is drawn by the TV. You settle down to spend time with God and the phone rings. Before you know it, it's time to go out and the in depth time of communion with Father has become a rushed 10 minutes!

We've all done it! I am so often distracted. For me it is often work related things. Sending e-mails or remembering something I need to do that hasn't been done!

I have been reminded subtly by a number of sources over the last few days of how short life is but how much has to be achieved! I want to share a few of my reflections and I have a feeling some will ring true for you!

- I spend too much time trying to please people, rather than pleasing God!
- I dwell on small niggles which can quickly become large disagreements
- I form good intentions but they are often overlooked by busy reality
- I want spend time with my God but procrastinate so often

And that is to name a few. We have to have an urgency to share Jesus. Our lives have to be 100% about knowing God and making Him known. Not that we would spend all the time studying, and praying, but that above all things God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit would be our number one and central to all things.

We must let God percolate through our lives, making us stronger in a world the is desperate for direction!
I pray against what ever distractions that you might face in your lives right now.
May we not be known as a church that gets caught up in distraction but rather a church that is released into action!
